[Sprint] WiMAX in San Francisco Bay Area

Sprint has announced that they have activated WiMax in San Fransico Bay Area. Actually WiMax has already out in front around the city of San Francisco. Sprint were promised this development exasprintctly three weeks ago, back when Los Angeles and Washington DC were first familiarizing themselves with the glorious new speed, which also includes San Jose, Palo Alto and Oakland, adds to a total of 71 metropolitan markets that have been lit up with Sprint's finest wireless offering. Guess Verizon had better start fast and keep running if it wants to keep up.

Verizon may get Android v2.2 Froyo for Samsung Fascinate

News of the potential Android 2.2 update for Samsung Fascinate users has been quiet over the last few months. Well a tiny bit of light has been shed regarding this update, this time in an internal specs comparison sheet claiming the update will come by the end of 2010.

This spec sheet details when Adobe Flash will be available on the device, and you can’t have Adobe Flash without Android 2.2. Hopefully we will see the update in the next week, it’s definitely possible, but don’t get your hopes up.

It’s worth noting that on the sheet the DROID X is listed at having Android 2.1 installed. If you recall the DROID X was updated to Froyo all the way back in September, so this specific sheet could be out of date, but we will definitely keep our eyes open for the potential update.

LG Phone Ally expecting by Feb Android 2.2

LG Phone Ally is going to introduce on market by February. This is an Android OS version 2.2 Froyo.

Now the main question this arises is whether or not the device will run Adobe Flash Player 10.1. With a 600MHz processor, the LG Ally may come up too short to meet the hardware requirements for Adobe’s Flash. Current requirements for a WVGA device require it to be sporting at least a 800MHz processor. Unless things change come February, Ally users may be left out of one of the biggest upgrades in the Froyo update.

Hopefully this will not be the case, and we see an optimized version of Flash for the Ally next year.

Sony Ericsson doodler Jump game: Tips and Tricks

Is that a diddy-rum I hear? 2 maybe, 3? No, its every monster* all at once!! Be honest, the first time you ran into the CALAMITY, you felt like higher power didn’t want you to break your high score. Well here is not one but TWO ways to successfully preserve your score, and maneuver past the CALAMITY. See the two screen-caps for reference.

Green Line
This tract requires a little out-of-the-box thinking, and takes advantage of off-the-screen doodling. When you jump on the first platform, tilt your doodler off to the left of the screen, appearing on the right hand side, safely above the white-platform. BEWARE! There is a blue side-to-side monster just above! But you should be able to make it from the white platform to the top of his head with no problem.

Red Line
If you are reading this, you like adventure. This is the old Indiana-Jones-Leaving-His-Hat-As-The-Stone-Door-Closes trick. After jumping on the first white disappearing platform on the bottom left, quickly and dramatically slide your doodler WAAAAY to the right of the screen, above the Blue winged diddy-rum monster, and below both the purple and red diddy-rums. When you get above the blue monster, proceed upwards – you’ve cut it close. Pause the game, and congratulate yourself. You looked the CALAMITY in the face, laughed and lived to score more points!

Happy Christmas to all

The festival of Christmas has a special significance in everyone's life. Though Christmas is considered to be the primary festival of the Christian calendar but today it is a part of all religions and is a universal festival. Christmas celebrates humanity and mankind and conveys message of love, tolerance and brotherhood. It is celebrated on the 25th December, the date when Jesus Christ was born. The word Christmas is derived from an early English phrase 'Cristes maesse', that means 'Mass of Christ'. According to many scholars, the festival originated in the 4th century as a Christian substitute for pagan celebrations of the winter solstice many years before the Christ child was born. 25th December is first mentioned as the birth date of Jesus Christ in 336 AD in an early Roman calendar.

Android tips and tricks–OS 2.3 Gingerbread

Here is the some cool Android tips and tricks for 2.3 OS Gingerbread

  1. Visual cue for scrolling: When you are in a scrollable list (like your Gmail inbox) and you reach the end of the list it shows an orange hue—a visual cue that you can’t scroll anymore.
  2. Notification bar icons (Wi-Fi, network coverage bars, etc.): Turn green when you have an uninhibited connection to Google, white when you don't. Hint: if you're in a hotel or airport using Wi-Fi, the bars won't turn green until you launch the browser and get past the captive portal.
  3. Voice actions: Tell your phone what to do by pressing the microphone icon next to the search box on the home screen, or long press the magnifying glass. You can tell it to send an email or text message (“send text to mom, see you for pizza at 7”), call someone ("call mom"), navigate somewhere (“navigate to pizza”), or listen to music ("listen to Mamma Mia").
  4. Find things you’ve downloaded from your browser: Your downloads are now neatly collected in a Downloads manager, which you can find in the apps drawer.
  5. Turn a Gallery stack into a slideshow: In Gallery, when you are looking at a stack of photos, put two fingers on the stack and spread them. The stack spreads out and the pictures flow from one finger to the other, a moving slideshow that lets you see all of the photos.
  6. Walk, don’t drive: Once you’ve gotten directions within Google Maps, click on the walking person icon to get walking directions.
  7. Easy text copy/paste from a webpage: To copy/paste from a webpage, long press some text, drag the handles around to select the text you want to copy, and press somewhere in the highlighted region. To paste, simply long press a text entry box and select paste. Gmail is a bit different: you need to go to Menu > More > Select Text.
  8. Turn your phone into a Wi-Fi hotspot: Go to Settings > Wireless & Networks > Tethering & Portable Hotspot. (You may have to pay extra for this feature.)
  9. Look at Maps in 3D: With the latest release of Google Maps, you can now look at 3D maps. Tilt the map by sliding two fingers vertically up/down the screen, and rotate it by placing two fingers on the map and sliding in a circular motion, e.g., from 12 and 6 o’clock to 3 and 9.
  10. Cool shutdown effect: When you put the phone to sleep, you’ll see an animation that resembles an old cathode tube TV turning off.

Keyboard tricks

  1. Shift+Key to capitalize a word: In Gingerbread (and supported hardware), you can Shift+Key to capitalize a letter instead of going to a separate all caps keyboard.
  2. Auto-complete: The space bar lights up when auto-complete can finish a word.
  3. Quick replace: Tap on any previously typed word, then tap on a suggestion to automatically replace it with the suggested word.
  4. Easy access to special characters (like numbers, punctuation): Press and hold any key to go to the special character keyboard. You can also press and hold the "," key for an extensive punctuation keyboard.

  1. Angry Birds: Popular game that lets you knock down blocks by slingshotting birds.
  2. Astro: Awesome file explorer app. Browse and access the directories on your phone, and take full advantage of its capabilities. Great if you’re a power user.
  3. Chrome to Phone: This one is really useful for Chrome users. You can send anything you browse on your computer to your phone. So if you are heading out to a restaurant or party and look up directions on your computer, just click the “send to phone” button (requires Chrome to Phone extension) and that exact page will open on your phone. Same with virtually any webpage.
  4. Flash: Install from Android Market to watch Flash videos embedded throughout the web. Runs even better on Gingerbread.
  5. Fruit Ninja: A juicy action game that tests your ability to smash flying fruit. A fun time-killer on the bus or train.
  6. FXCamera: Popular photo sharing app with slick effects and filters.
  7. Google Maps: Use your device as a GPS navigation system with free turn-by-turn voice guidance, and take advantage of other Google Maps features like Street View, Latitude and Places.
  8. Instant Heart Rate: Measure your heart rate using your camera.
  9. Phoneanlyzr: Track your phone usage: who you text most, call most, average call length distribution, etc.
  10. RemoteDroid: Control your computer from your phone. Gives you a mobile wireless mouse and keyboard. Great if you’re using your computer for music or movies.
  11. Shazam: Identifies virtually any song you are listening to.
  12. SoundHound: Record a snippet of a song and get it identified instantly. You can even hum (if you can carry a tune!).
  13. Tango: A free, high-quality video call app that works on both 3G and Wi-Fi. If your device has a front facing camera (e.g., Nexus S), you will love this app.
  14. YouTube: New UI. Plus, portrait-mode player, and view comments and drop-down box video information
